Public Houses

Magali Delporte

Whether it is called, the Drunken Duck, The Duke of York, the Queen's Head or the King's Head, there is always something quintenssentially British when you strep in a public house. It could be the ale (best served at room temperature) or the furniture (mostly dark wood) or the benches, the carpet, the collection of paintings, drawings, bells, plates... The pubs I visited in the year 2001 had all been selected before hand on the criteria that there was not any juke box but a large choice of ales. Most of them where in the countryside and were ran by terrific landlords and landladies. Altogether, I drove 6000 kilometers to meet those people - an unforgettable trip!
